❓ Frequently Asked Questions
How does the yardage adjustment work?
Golf Yardage Pro uses established physics-based formulas to calculate how environmental conditions affect ball flight. Temperature affects air density and ball compression, altitude reduces air resistance, wind adds or subtracts carry, and elevation change affects the effective playing distance.
Why does a positive adjustment mean I should play less club?
A positive adjustment means the ball will travel further than the marker distance — so the shot "plays shorter." For example, if you're at altitude and the app shows +8 yards on a 150-yard shot, the ball will fly like a 158-yard shot, so you'd take less club.
The "Use My Location" button isn't working
Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Golf Yardage Pro and set it to "While Using the App." Also make sure you have an internet connection — the app fetches live weather data when using your location.
How do I switch between yards and meters?
Use the Yards / Meters toggle at the top of the calculator. Your distance will be automatically converted when you switch units.
Where is my shot history stored?
All shot history is stored locally on your device. It is never uploaded to any server or shared with anyone. If you delete the app, your history will be deleted too — so make note of anything important before uninstalling.
How do I delete my shot history?
Go to the Settings tab → tap "Delete All Shot History" → confirm. This permanently removes all saved shots from your device.
What is elevation change vs. elevation above sea level?
Elevation above sea level is your course's altitude (e.g. a mountain course at 6,000 ft). Elevation change is the slope of the specific shot — whether you're hitting uphill or downhill to the pin.
Does the app work offline?
Yes — the calculator, history, and all sliders work fully offline. An internet connection is only needed for the "Use My Location" weather fetch feature.
