Privacy Policy

The short version: We don't sell your data. We don't share it with advertisers. Your golf journal and conversations are yours. We only collect what's necessary to make the app work.
1. Who We Are
YipFix AI is developed and operated by Birch Island Consulting, LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). If you have questions about this policy, contact us at alex@birchisland.net.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the minimum information necessary to operate the app:
- Journal entries — round data, mental ratings, mood, notes you write. Stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.
- AI Coach conversations — messages you send to the AI Coach are transmitted to OpenAI's API to generate responses. These are not stored on our servers.
- Subscription status — managed entirely by Apple's App Store. We do not have access to your payment information.
- Usage data — message count for free tier quota tracking, stored locally on your device only.
- Apple Watch data — breathing sessions and mood logs sync between your iPhone and Watch via Apple's WatchConnectivity framework. This data stays on your devices.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide AI coaching responses via the OpenAI API
- To track your free tier message quota locally
- To sync data between your iPhone and Apple Watch
- To improve app functionality and fix bugs
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the app.
4. OpenAI API
AI Coach responses are generated by OpenAI's API. When you send a message to the Coach, that message is transmitted to OpenAI's servers to generate a response. OpenAI's use of this data is governed by their Privacy Policy. We do not send any personally identifiable information to OpenAI — only your coaching message text.
We use gpt-4o-mini, OpenAI's most privacy-conscious model tier, and limit response tokens to minimize data transmission.
5. Data Storage
All personal data — your journal entries, conversation history, and usage stats — is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We do not operate servers that store your personal data.
If you delete the app, all locally stored data is permanently deleted from your device.
6. Apple Services
YipFix AI uses several Apple platform services, each governed by Apple's Privacy Policy:
- StoreKit / App Store — subscription purchases and management
- SwiftData — local on-device data storage
- WatchConnectivity — iPhone to Apple Watch data sync
- AVSpeechSynthesizer — text-to-speech for tee reset coaching, processed entirely on-device
7. Children's Privacy
YipFix AI is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your Rights
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control:
- Access — all your data is visible within the app
- Delete — delete individual journal entries in the app, or delete the app entirely to remove all data
- Export — we plan to add data export in a future version
- Subscription management — manage or cancel through your Apple ID settings
9. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
We do not sell personal information. California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of sale (which we do not engage in). To exercise these rights, contact privacy@birchislandconsulting.com.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by updating the effective date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
